Consortium
Welcome to the Interdisciplinary Consortium on Personality Dynamics & Growth
Can we truly grow from hardship, or do we simply recover and find alternative strategies for navigating life? Or does hardship, in some cases, traumatize us and leave us more vulnerable and sensitive? Which factors—be they personality-related, specific to the nature of the hardship, contextual, or a combination of these—determine the path an individual takes? And ultimately, what does it actually mean to grow as a person? These are core research questions this consortium seeks to explore.
The Interdisciplinary Consortium for Personality Dynamics & Growth brings together scholars from diverse disciplines such as psychology, theology, and philosophy to advance research on the processes underlying personality and personality growth. By integrating interdisciplinary perspectives and ensuring methodological rigor, we aim to elevate insights in ways that single-discipline approaches cannot. Our research team has been investigating how Personality Dynamics & Growth can be conceptualized from psychological, philosophical, and spiritual-religious perspectives. By fostering collaboration across fields, we strive to develop a more comprehensive understanding of human nature and growth.
This consortium originated from The Immersive Research Program on Personality Growth (IRP)—a pioneering initiative in theological education—made possible through a joint effort by the Munich School of Philosophy, the Technical University of Munich, and the John Templeton Foundation (JTF).
Join us in exploring how interdisciplinary research can shape the future of personality studies and human potential.
